Year 4's Great Fun

We have had a good start to the term.
Year 4 has been doing gymnastics with Years 5 and 6.We go to the gym once a week. The best activity is doing somersaults on the big trampolines.
One of Year 4's topics this term is Antarctica. We have used the laptops to find out what Antarctica looks like from space. Mrs Clark has said our class might be able to go to the Antarctic Centre. We think this sounds fun so we are going to work really hard in class so we get to go.
We have also been busy writing character descriptions. Not only did we write one as a class, but we wrote our own one about a book character.
In Year 4 we have been working on Geometry. We made rectangular prisms and cubes. This was pretty fun to do but it was hard.

Moving into the Middle Syndicate

Year 4 have fitted comfortably into the Middle Syndicate and have no negative comments about anything. The students love their new Maths test 'Speed We Need' and are very excited and enthusiastic about going on Camp at the end of the year. They enjoyed swimming at Aquagym and taking part in the Swimming Sports. They also took part in a drawing workshop taken by Wendy Duggan, and having been working on painting in their class art lessons. The class pets are thriving.

Middle Syndicate Food To Go Learning Journey!

The middle syndicate made healthy food for the rest of the school to enjoy as part of their food to go learning journey. Year 6 made sushi, Year 5 made wraps and then Year4 made pizza! To start our journey off Mrs. Godfrey-Chatterton ( Year 5 teacher) was a very weary mother who needed to think fast because her son Jon ( Mr. Russell, Year 6 teacher ) was coming home after a long run. Also her daughter Jo (Mrs. Clarke, Year 4 teacher ) was coming home from a long bike ride. Suddenly Mr. Russell came whizzing through the hall door running and grinning with an energetic smile on his face! He ran around all of us while laughter filled the air. Next Mrs. Clarke came riding in on her bike. Mrs Godfrey-Chatterton didn't have enough time to fix them up some lunch so she gave them a nice warm pie. Mr. Russell and Mrs. Clarke gasped.''Do you know how much fat is in a pie? Two golf ball sizes of fat!'' So we had to discuss about what foods are healthy to be in our lunches. In the end we came up with sushi, wraps and pizza. There was a lot of preparation towards the final day. In the end we raised around $900. We are spending the money on a basket-ball hoop and basketballs for the whole school to use.

Year 4 Mask Making!

The Year 4's have been making masks as part of their art at school. Our task was to design a mask on paper and then create our mask using a plastic mould, paper mache, paint and other accessories. Everyone got a plastic mould and started to paper mache three layers onto the mask. We then left them to dry for a while so that we could start to paint them as soon as possible. The next day everyones masks were dry and ready to paint. We all got out our designs out and made sure that we had the right colours to paint with. To start off with every one had to paint their base colour onto the masks, and then add the detail once the base was dry. Some people added accessories such as fake hair to the top of their masks. It was really fun making the masks and being able to try them on and wear them. I wonder what next term will bring?
